Brunette Bombshell Makeup

Saturday, September 13, 2014

I had so much fun doing Jenna's makeup. She is naturally gorgeous and she reminded me of a Victorias Secret model and Megan fox mixed with The Olsen twins circa 1999 "Two of a kind" any one? The makeup artist for the Victorias Secret fashion shows usually does a soft smokey eye, flirty lashes, glowing skin and glossy nude lips. It is a universal look on any woman. My version of that makeup look is a little more dramatic but is perfect for a night where you know you will getting photos taken or if you want to feel fancy. Makeup details listed below...

Editorial Makeup

While visiting Seattle a few weeks ago, I had the honor of working with an amazing photographer Anessa Rhae Photography. The Model had a unique look that I wanted to play off of. The first look was graphic liner and a dark lip. I had to transition in the rain outside from the first look to a bohemian makeup look. I had so much fun working with Anessa and Sophie. The photos came out beautiful. I love creative makeup looks and hope you enjoy these photos as much as I did.

Fall Face

Thursday, September 4, 2014

September is here and I could not be more happy that this hot summer is almost over! I am an October baby. Autumn is my favorite season, so I wanted to do a makeup look that focused on matte lips and bold liner. Have fun with bold looks this season, and don't be afraid to try dark colors! The lipstick is very similar to the popular Kylie Jenner look. Product details are listed below...

Girlactik Lip Paint: I used "Allure" and "Demure" mixed on my lips for the "Kylie Jenner" lip. This is a liquid lipstick that turns into a matte stain in thirty seconds. This stuff does not budge! I love it.

Girlactik Star Gloss: "Baby doll" on the left was not used because I wanted to keep it matte. However if you are wanting a glossy look I would highly recommend their lip glosses!

Girlactik Precise Marker Liner: I usually hate marker liners and opt for liquid or gel liner. That was until I came across this gem. The brush is similar to a liquid liner brush but very tiny. Perfect for a clean winged liner.

Girlactik Star Gloss "Baby Doll" Matte lip Paint "Demure" and "Allure"
Foundation: Nars Sheer Glow
Concealer: MAC Prolongwear Concealer
Powder: MAC mineralized skinfinish
Bronzer: Milani "Soleil"
Lipstick: Girlactik Matte Lip Paint "Allure" and "Demure"
Eyeliner: Girlactik "Precise Marker Liner" and L'oreal gel liner on the waterline
Eyeshadow: Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette and Lorac Pro Palette
Highlighter: Nars "Albatross" and MAC "Soft and Gentle"
Lashes: House of Lashes "Iconic"
Eyebrows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow "Soft Brown" and Tinted brow gel "Caramel"
Jewelry: Renikins Jewelry necklace, bracelet and gold ring.

Luxury For Princess Hair Extensions

Tuesday, August 26, 2014

I love the option of having long hair and short hair. I do not consider my self a hair extension connoisseur, but what I do know is Luxury For Princess makes good quality hair. Luxury For Princess clip-in extensions are made of 100% Remy human hair. The clips are the strongest clips I have ever tried, that is because they contain a silicone strip to help protect and grab onto to the hair. They carry four different grams of hair, Princess hair 120G, Princess Deluxe 160G,  Princess Super Deluxe 220G, and Princess Glamorous 260G, which is what I have for my thick and short hair. My color is "Butterscotch Blonde #14" It comes with a tester two clip weft so you can see if it will match your hair, if they do not you can return them if the rest of the hair is unopened. Luckily, they matched perfectly. These clip-ins are very soft, thick and long, 22 inches!  I did layer my hair and cut off about two inches. If your hair is short you do need layers to blend it all together. Overall, I had a great experience with this company and would recommend these to any one looking for good quality extensions!
These Clips are very strong. I did not have to tease my hair for it to stay in. Also, It comes with an extra clip in case one gets loose and falls off later on.

Hit or Miss? Drug Store Foundations

Tuesday, August 19, 2014

There are so many drug store foundations it can be overwhelming choosing the right one for your skin type. I have combination skin, oily in the summer and dry in the winter. I hand picked three very different foundations that are very popular, from dewy, satin, and matte finishes. Keep in mind, every one has a different skin type. So, what works for me may not work for you. Here are some of my "hit and misses" of drugstore foundations.
 Enjoy!

L'Oreal True Match
This foundation has every color for any skin undertone from cool, neutral and warm. I use this foundation on a lot of clients because of the finish and color match. L'Oreal has some amazing products!

PROS: Satin Finish, medium coverage can be built up to full, wide range of colors, easy to blend, looks good on most skin types
CONS: SPF 17 is not good for flash photography
VERDICT: HIT

FIT Me Foundation:
This foundation seems to favor more olive undertones than pink undertones. Although, they do have a large selection of colors so you can mix foundations for your perfect shade. This foundation is an oily skin persons worst night mare. Maybelline Fit me has a whole collection of makeup including fit me concealer, which I really love!

PROS: Dewy Finsh, light coverage, wide arrange of colors
CONS: Greasy, does not last long, oxidizes
VERDICT: MISS

Revlon Colorstay & Revlon Color stay Whipped

Yes, I know these are two different foundations but they are similar in the way they hold up on the skin. They are both great foundations for oily skin, if you are dry, stay away! Revlon Colorstay carries a lot of pink undertones, so if that is you it should be easy to find a color. If you are like me with yellow undertones it will be difficult finding the right color, so plan on buying two and mixing!

Revlon Colorstay
PROS: Matte finish, full coverage, long lasting
CONS: Dries quickly, can look patchy, paint smell, small color selection
VERDICT: MISS

Revlon Colorstay Whipped
PROS: Matte/Satin Finish, full coverage, long lasting, blends easier than Revlon Colorstay
CONS: Feels heavy on the skin, bad color selection
VERDICT: HIT
